In my own experience, a pal at work revealed to her superior that she had a crush on a guy on the same shift. One day, the two of them were caught in a compromising situation in the stock room. The supervisor laughed and walked out in shock. It became the gossip of the office, and though the person in charge in fact thought it was humorous, she kept a close eye on the two in an attempt to ensure efficiency. It was an office romance gone poorly. The boss ended up counseling the young woman, telling her that the guy was no good for her, and that she could do better. It would have been less uncomfortable if the boss had never known about the crush

They were caught in a compromising situation at work? That's just plain stupid if you want to keep your job. The supervisor could have fired one or both of them to keep the office running smoothly. I remember having an office romance like this once upon a time but I knew if we were caught, I would be fired. Strange how our hormones can overrule our heads by time. This girl was lucky she has an understanding supervisor.

I guess it would depend on what they were doing. Just kissing I could see them getting away with it, but if they were doing a lot more than that they probably shouldn't be working there anymore. I know a lot of companies have pretty formalized policies on that now but other, smaller, family owned businesses aren't as strict.
