I found that online dating was going to be the best avenue for me as I was now a newly divorced mother of 1. I was working full time and lived in an area I had not grown up in and had few contacts of people my own age. I quickly found that most guys were only looking for a booty call, not a real date. I was honest and up front with anyone who contacted me. I had a date with one guy (a real one with dinner and everything - and he paid). He knew I had a 3 year old, yet when he met me at my car, and took one look at my daughter's car seat he said "Oh yeah, you have a kid." Total date crusher. I never saw him again.

The more "duds" that responded to me, the more specific my profile became. I told them what I wanted (educated, funny, must like kids) and told them if they couldn't write a coherent sentence and still lived with their mom, best of luck and don't bother writing me. I tried to be open minded and try new things, but also had to stick to my guns and go with my gut. If it didn't seem right in the beginning, I would cut my losses and move on.

Good luck to everyone out there. I firmly believe there is a Jack for every Jill.
